Center For Development of Sustainable Region (CDSR)

Center For Development of Sustainable Region (CDSR) is CCR led bay Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) and it's seven affiliates including Institut Teknologi Bandung, Institut Pertanian Bogor, Universitas Indonesia, Universitas Bangka Belitung, Universitas Muhammadiyah Gotontalo, Universitas Negeri Gorontalo, and University of Colorado Boulder. CDSR will work on renewable energy system and energy efficient construction. Developing capacity of local industry and related elements is very important to shape an enabling environment for sustainability energy sistem, including local goverment, non govermental organization, communities, and vovational schools.

Indonesia's electricity consumption per capita clasified as low compared to some ASEAN countries. one of the factors are geographical condition of Indonesia's archipelago. Moreover, many islands in Indonesia  have low ration of electrification. This provide challange to develop energy system for both urban and rural areas. It is needed combine approach of increasing role of renewable energy and energy efficiency. Indonesia has several sources of renewable energy , which should be optimally used to develop a sustainable energy system. CDSR will develop this potency in outer or remote island which has no electric access to electricity. Beside, there is strong demand on implementation of energy efficient building or nearly zero energy building (NZEB).

As archipelago country, which face urbanization, Indonesia should always explore various ways of innovation in energy system technology.  It needs a well managed systematical research and development, including wide scale implementation in comprehensive approach.  CDSR is expected to accelerate capacity development of Indonesia industry in renewable energy and strenghthen the fuctional network to develop sustainable energy system in archipelagos.
